Every year, my family takes a week off of work to just get away from the routine and mundane things of life. It’s very necessary to just recover from all the demands of work and refresh to get ready for the year ahead of us. This year we had the privilege of going to a resort in Palm Desert. A very special and sweet lady from our church gave us 3 days and 2 nights to stay at this resort and it was simple, yet memorable.
Although our vacation week started on Monday, we had to stay and my husband still had to go into work to get several things done. So our vacation didn’t officially start until Tuesday. We left Tuesday afternoon after my husband picked up his family from the airport.
We made a mistake of not planning out the route we would take to Palm Springs so we took the I-79 instead of I-10 and it was a big mistake as we were on winding roads and the elevation was high. With all the technology, we just assumed that our GPS would take us there. We failed to consider that the route provided wouldn’t be the best. As we neared the ending of all the winding roads, Laurel was getting carsick and began crying. We just did our best to get her mind off of it. Thank the Lord she didn’t throw up in the car. Anyways, we arrived around 6-7pm.
It was pretty much like an AirBnB & was perfect for us. There was one room with a king-sized bed and the living room that had a comfortable pull-out bed from the couch. Most pull-outs aren’t so great but this one was different and very comfortable. The check-in went smoothly and they even had goodie bags for our three girls which included a coloring book, crayons, & maybe bubbles…) I’m sorry, I forgot)
We unloaded our stuff and got ready for the pool. All our girls were congested but we prayed that they wouldn’t get worse by going swimming. After all, this is what they really looked forward to. We were in there for a good 2-3 hours and the girls wanted to keep swimming even after they were done but Mommy & Daddy were hungry! So after swimming, my husband picked up some pizza and wings at a Dominoes nearby and we enjoyed our late dinner as a family.
We slept in & we are totally not guilty about that. It was very much needed. I loved how our backdoor gave us easy access to the pool and I loved the double curtains which blocked out the sun. It was nice to just get away from the usual. I brought some snacks from home and spent some time with Jesus before we did anything else.
The girls slept in til 10ish and once we opened the curtains to let the sun shine through, they woke up and were excited to go swimming again. But first, we went to a nearby mall to grab something to eat.
Laurel & Azalea loved pretending to be mermaids.
It was just a perfect time to make perfect memories with my family.
We took a break to eat at a place called “Snake Bites.” And then… we swam again. After an hour or two, we finished up and we all napped.
Upon waking up, my husband and I started packing our things since we would be checking out the the following morning. When everyone finally fell asleep, I cried because I knew that we would be heading home the following morning.
When I got up, my husband was already up and had started loading our stuff into our van. He took so many trips in the hot heat while I stayed behind making sure we left the place somewhat clean. After what seemed like “two hours” of loading, we checked out and headed towards Los Angeles to Santa Monica Pier.
We ate some burgers and fries and walked along the pier. We also ran into some of our good friends from back home. The girls enjoyed the park designed specficially for children. After about an hour or so, we left and headed towards the Packing District. My husband insisted on taking me there since it looked like a place where “bloggers” would go. And it definitely was!
It was such a beautiful place with a variety of food places to choose from.
The “Mini Monster” sold Iced coffee but I made the mistake of getting the Thai Iced Coffee and I was not really a fan. But I still have this glass lightbulb bottle that it came in. It was about $2 extra but I’d say it was worth it.
We spent an hour or so there and then headed out. Then…we decided to go to Downtown Disney and just walk around to avoid sitting in traffic. We walked around and I am sure my husband could see it in me that our 2-3 day vacation was just not enough…I wasn’t ready to go back home and start preparing for the next big event for our church.
He surprised us with an extra day of vacation at DISNEYLAND!!!
This was very much needed! So thankful we got to take our three girls to the “happiest place on earth.” I will be sharing more photos on my Instagram!!! This was the perfect way to finish our family vacation! Thann you all for taking the time to follow along our family adventures!
